In this series I'm looking at nutritional companies both of conventional marketing (through the stores) and importantly also about those companies who market via distributors by Network marketing channels. This is to give you more initial information about the companies that the distributors talk to you about.
We start with Usana Health Sciences.
Usana Health Sciences Inc is a public listed company in the New York Stock Exchange (USNA).
Usana is now a extremely large and successful health and wellness network marketing (or MLM) company. The products consists of a many health-care, nutritional products and skin-care products, in addition to a home-based business opportunity if you join as a distributor and market their products.Usana was founded in 1992 by Dr. Myron Wentz, a microbiologist and immunologist. HQ is in West Valley, Utah in the USA.
Popular USANA products include: USANA Essentials, HealthPak, Probiotic, Calcium.
Others of high interest include Rev3 Energy drink, Sense beauty products, BiOmega™ and usana CoQuinone30, Proflavanol.
As of 2009, Usana products are marketed in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Singapore, Mexico, Malaysia and The Philippines.
As a home based or MLM (network marketing business), Usana uses a binary compensation plan. You build a left-team and a right-team simultaneously. One of the benefit of this compensation plan is that there is no monthly group volume requirements. Commissions are paid out based on group sale volume (GSV).
